The Recovery Center of Medina County and Sérénité Culinary Institute Update:
We’re still here and making progress on our program restructuring. The Recovery Center remains fully operational, providing essential recovery support services to those in need. Located in the Little White House next door to Sérénité restaurant, we continue to offer Peer Support, SMART Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Parenting Classes—ensuring that vital resources remain accessible to our community.
Sérénité Restaurant is just one of the many transformative programs offered by the Recovery Center of Medina County. While our dining room is temporarily closed, our commitment to supporting recovery with culinary education remains steadfast. Our Culinary Institute continues its training program, with our dedicated students actively progressing through a modified curriculum. Prior to the restructuring, students were learning the basics of commercial kitchen operation. During the restructuring, students are learning kitchen equipment maintenance, cleaning, health inspections, fire protection and various other items that keep a busy kitchen running. These are essential tasks that are often neglected in a busy kitchen and every bit as important as knife skills and creating the perfect omelet. As a result, the students have helped identify several additional areas that we need to improve prior to our reopening. As we peel back the onion layers, we are getting a better grasp on what is needed to operate efficiently and effectively in the competitive food service industry. Lots more to come on this.
Together, we can continue to provide hope, healing, and opportunity. Recovery support is more important now than ever—thank you for being a part of this mission.
