MEDINA — Serenite Restaurant & Culinary Institute executive chef Todd Whitman has been clean and sober for more than five years — since Aug. 17, 2015, to be exact.

Whitman, 40, took over for Gilbert Brenot, who hails from Les Landes, France, in May.
